Love Is by Alyssa Corley

As always with Alyssa Corley's contributions to the Yoga Living Project, there isn't much we can put into words to preface it, it's just one you need to read, to let sit on your skin and seep into your heart. If you're looking to challenge the barriers of your love and explore our current theme from one of our teachers who notoriously lives from her heart, this week's contribution has got you covered!

Can you contribute? Why yes you can! We want to hear any and all things from your perspective on life, learning, love and yoga. Send Austin a note with your ideas at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Love Is

Love is patient.
Love is kind.
Love isn’t jealous because it knows contentment.
Love is compassionate, it tries to understand the feelings of others – and also of itself.
Love isn’t numb.
Love is tender but strong. Love wants for others what it wants for itself.
Love seeks equanimity.
Love often hurts. Love is vulnerable with boundaries. Love is free.
Love involves stamina, deliberate action, intense participation.
Love is beautiful.
Love smells like forest floors, like cinnamon…like lilac laced breeze.
Love looks like rain falling toward parched ground, like fire warming everyone’s hands…no matter who
they are or what they’ve done. Love looks like leaving the wildflower for others to enjoy, stepping over
the ant, picking up trash you didn’t throw. Love is the hummingbird hovering, love is nectar – love is the
hum of wings. Love is holding your breath while you watch nature.
Love isn’t rocket science – it’s natural.
Love is dealing with what happened even though it’s uncomfortable – because love isn’t a feeling….it’s
always action.
Love chooses to not spread a rumor. Love doesn’t gossip – it wants others to be thought of well. Love is
the pause when you rethink your words, the filter in your mind, the long inhale when you’re feeling
scared. Love is mocked purity. Love is brave.
Love sounds like “ How can I help?” Love sounds like “I need a little space.” Love is self respect. Love is
protection – it’s the knowing that all beings are worthy.
Love is the cool in-breath and the warm out-breath. Love is light.
Love is grateful for the seen and the unseen. Love notices the invisible – love is open.
Love salutes the sun, stares in wonder at the stars…devotes itself to something Greater.
Love knows there are no accidents.
Love provides shade to the weary, fruit for the hungry, stability and shelter to the forgotten. Love is
lasting.
Love chooses to root deeply in righteous living because, truly, it’s the only way to grow upward.

Yoga is a way of life and should be accessible to all.

Community is important. Everyone is a valuable member and we are here to serve our community.

Everyone is perfect just as they are. Everyone has their own path and is at a different point in life.

From physical abilities to beliefs, everyone is at the right place at the right time.
