This is a recording of the first half of the Ecstatic Kirtan with Spiritwell at Cambio Yoga from October 13, 2018. We had such a wonderful time sharing this experience with the amazingly luminous souls who came to celebrate life with us. Lots of folks from all walks of life can be heard here raising their voices together creating something that will surely light the way for some time to come.
This week's blog comes from first time Yoga Living Project guest writer Sheila Olson who has a few words of wisdom to share about how to manage daily routines, fitness goals, and accountability to those schedules. She also dives into how not to overdo it which most of us in this day in age could stand to benefit from. As always if you are interested in guest writing for YLP please send me an email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Once again Yoga Living Project has the pleasure of hosting returning guest writer Susan Treadway where she shares some ideas that might just be of the utmost importance to you and your families health at home. 10 Reasons our Teacher Training is Super Special
(we tried to keep it to just 5, but couldn't...)
1. Real Skills- Our students graduate ready to take the seat of the teacher. Cambio ytt gives you all the tools you need to step into teaching a safe, well-sequenced, and inspiring class.
2. Support- Cambio faculty and teachers provide consistent and supportive mentorship. You are never alone on your teacher training journey - you are supported by an expansive community of experienced and caring teachers who are truly invested in your growth, plus you have a personal mentor.
3. Experienced Faculty- We’ve led 23 trainings…not to mention extended teacher training, which has been ongoing since 2013! We understand that teaching students to teach is a whole other thing than guiding yoga classes. Our lead teachers have been teaching since at least 2011 and have been a part of faculty since at least 2013. All YTT teachers must successfully complete extensive internship programs.
4. Designed for the Learner- Cambio owner and YTT director, Amber, has her masters in teaching, so this training is designed for the learner. Don't expect boring lectures! Our curriculum utilizes a wide variety of techniques to facilitate interaction and discussion, as well as to address different learning styles.
5. Accessibility- One of Cambio's guiding principles is that yoga should be accessible to all. In that spirit, our teacher trainings are welcoming and accessible to anyone with a sincere desire to grow. Our students - and teachers - come from many different walks of life and yoga backgrounds, and that diversity is part of the richness of our community.
6. Community- Cambio ytt students are immersed in a culture of mutual support and friendship. Whether you are a long-time yoga practitioner or brand-new to the practice, your sangha will help you through the challenges and celebrate your successes.
7. Shoshoni Yoga Retreat - Like a mini yoga vacation in the middle of YTT!
8. More than Poses- While learning a ton about alignment and the purpose of poses, our students also learn about other aspects of yoga through experiential workshops like chakra nights and book club.
9. Real class experiential learning- We put our trainees in our actual classes to get experience during training. It’s not as scary as it sounds and the pay off is huge in both practical experience and confidence!
10. Insight into Special Considerations - Our trainees gain understanding about how to work with beginners, adaptive, and prenatal students.

This week on YLP guest blogger and resident Cambio teacher Nikki Arnone shares some insights and advice for new teachers. I can say when I first began my teacher training I was unsure of my own ability as a teacher and my self-doubt far exceeded my confidence but as I have seen time and time again leading teacher trainings, when one overcomes these fears they find that teaching right from where they are, not from where they would like to be, will be of service to someone somewhere right where they are. So please enjoy Nikki's deeper reflections on the trials and tribulations that come along with the terrain and as always if you would like to guest blog for YLP contact Austin at This email address is being protected from spambots. This video is from a Cambio Learn and Lounge about Sankalpa & Vikalpa with studio owner Amber Richman. It's all about working with the heart's deepest desire to overcome fear and self sabotage.
We have just finished our first season of Ecstatic Kirtan here at Cambio. If you don't know we have been holding monthly Ecstatic Kirtans accompanied by the live music of Spiritwell (aka resident Cambio Teachers Suzanne Mariska and Austin Richman) where we chant Kirtan for the first hour and then transition into an hour of Ecstatic Dance using the same chants (that's why everyone in this recording knows the chants so well). The music during the Ecstatic Dance portion of the night is known as a wave and we thought this one was extremely special so we wanted to share it here to let you know just how special it was. The Kirtan Portion will be released in the next few weeks so keep an eye out for that too.
Please enjoy and keep an eye out for us to be getting back to offering these after our schedule packed June comes to a close. In the meantime you can catch us at Ohana Kava Bar on June 8th at 7:30 and find out more info at https://www.facebook.com/spiritwellmusic/ drop by and give us a like why don't you and while you're at it feel free to sign up for our monthly newsletter too! ENJOY & VIBE HIGH!!!!
